    Revivals & Barn Parties

With this being fall, revivals are in full swing and along with revivals come barn parties.  In October, I have been to 3 barn parties.  Two in a barn- one with black lights, one in a shed with homemade caramel popcorn and homemade french fries. Yum, yum!!  This weekend I will be going to 2 more barn parties.  With as many barn parties as I am going to, you would think I like them.  I don't.  They are normally freezing cold, dusty and dirty.  You never come home with out straw everywhere.
This past weekend was my church's youth night.  The theme was "The Masquerade". We made everyone wear a mask and then played a game called "drop the blanket".  I was in charge of that game.  The other games were 4 square, scuffle board, and family feud. We also had our version of cash for clunkers.  Everyone was given the opportunity to decorate and then hit a very old isuzu pup truck.
The reason behind our theme came from a saying on the cd Jesus Freak by DC Talk.  The saying was as follows" The single greatest reason for Atheism in the world today is Christians who acknowledge Jesus with their lips and walk out the door and deny him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable. Decorating the truck was to show that people can make themselves look good on the outside but they are dead on the inside.  It also showed that we will pay to beat up our own body with drugs, alcohol and tatoos.  A body that was given to us by God, we destroy it instead of using our body to glorify Him with it.

Jeron & Kara Reed's wedding at Sweet Arrow Lake.
    The ceremony was private.
It was an absolutely beautiful evening and everything came together very well. I was very happy for that.  The wind also calmed. I thank God for that.

  • New Mexico- Torreon Navajo Mission

In the middle of July I was able to go to New Mexico with a group of Dunkard Brethren to teach Bible School at the mission they have in Cuba, New Mexico.  To give you an idea how far removed we were from civilization, it was an hour to Cuba, the nearest town and two hours to Albuquerque where they have a mall at. Also, animals roamed. We were staying on the Navajo reservation in the village of Torreon.  Everyday we did a work project or hiked in the morning and the afternoon was reserved for preparation for Bible School.
